BOOKFAIR

Twice a year, for a full week, the library organizes a bookfair where students and parents are offered the opportunity to purchase quality books in English. Students and parents are encouraged to buy directly on the premises. Titles for our bookfairs are selected by the library staff. See Calendar.

FAMILY READING NIGHT

The program is organized such as the first 45 minutes of the evening family members spend time reading to each other, and the following 15 to 20 minutes during Story Time, one member of our community will read a story of choice.

This activity takes place every other Thursday nights, usually between 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Some evenings may be thematic or grade-specific thus requiring sign-ups. See Calendar.

GUEST AUTHOR / ILLUSTRATOR

Every year we try to invite an artist who will share his or her talent and imagination with our students and teachers. The special guest may be an author, illustrator, story teller or a drama artist.

This year, we had the pleasure to host two authors. Bob Barner came presented to our younger students, while MaryAnn Kohl worked her magic with our older grades.

In March of last year, we are happy to host author-illustrator Paul Owen Lewis. Paul was at Missouri on March 1 & 2.

On March 10 and 11, 2003, author-illustrator NINA LADEN visited Missouri. Check our Nina Laden page for more details.

In October 2001 we hosted Francisco Hinojosa, renowned Mexican author. Mr. Hinojosa met all generations between kinder and grade 5.

BETWEEN THE PAGES

"Between the Pages" is three grade-specific reading programs for grades 1, 2, and 3. Each one runs independently from the other, and goes on all year, part of teachers ECAP (Extra-Curricular Activities Program). Students meet once a week during recess or after school and participate in guided reading activities under the supervision of a teacher.

PULL-THE-PLUG WEEK

Every Spring, ASFM holds Pull-the-Plug Week, a program intented to bring families together, away from the screen, and help create healthier screen-watching habits.

We're challenging our community to spend 7 days, screen free! Up for the challenge?

To work, Pull-The-Plug will require the help and support of the whole family, including mom and dad! See Calendar.

SPANISH BOOK DRIVE

At the end of the school year, we will try to collect books in Spanish that are still in excellent condition, but that you would like to donate. We will provide the service of giving them to a local school or organization. See Calendar

TARAHUMARA MILK DRIVE

For the eight year in a row, the library is proud to be involved in this important fund raising. For a whole week in February, the school participates in various activities to promote awareness about the Tarahumaras, as well as raise funds to provide milk to their children. See Calendar.
